Dana White Discusses Floyd Mayweather’s Apology

UFC President Dana White has been introducing UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor at all four stops on the press tour with Floyd Mayweather.

Mayweather issued an on stage apology to White multiple times on the tour, an apology that he felt was never owed to him.

“To be honest with you, everything he said about he and I is true, how long we’ve known each other and everything else,” White said at a media scrum. “This is the fight business. I don’t take any of that personal. I don’t take any of that stuff personal. I never felt like I was owed any type of apology from Floyd, but it was nice of him to do.”

White and Mayweather have known each other for about two decades, a relationship that began due to White’s love of boxing.

The UFC President also states that Mayweather and McGregor are two of the best talkers in the combat sports industry.

“When we were talking about this fight, the one thing that everybody said was, ‘Can you imagine how exciting the press conference is going to be?’” White said. “If you look at Floyd … I stopped calling it 24/7. I called it The Floyd Mayweather Show. If Floyd Mayweather wasn’t on 24/7, it wasn’t interesting. And Conor McGregor, two of the best shit talkers in both sports.”

Conor McGregor versus Floyd Mayweather takes place on Saturday, August 26 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
