During the event's preliminary bouts, the heated grudge match between top flyweight contenders, Muhammad Mokaev and Manel Kape came to a head, which saw Mokaev earn the controversial decision nod.

Mokaev told the media his deal with the company expired following the bout, and claimed he was told by UFC brass that his fighting style was something executives wasn't a fan of and would put a new deal in question if he didn't display more of an aggressive outing against the explosive Kape.

The Russian-turned English contender didn't quite set the world on fire against Kape, who broke his toe early into the bout, something that didn't please the boss, who adamantly confirmed the promotion won't be renewing Mokaev's deal.
