UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier is preparing to defend the title against Volkan Oezdemir in the co-main event of UFC 220.
Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones recently took and passed a polygraph test in an attempt to prove his innocence after a failed drug test in line with UFC 214. DC isn’t too impressed by Jones passing the test.
”Jon Jones took a polygraph test to prove his innocence,” Cormier said at the UFC 220 open workouts. “And I’m going to say this: Ted Bundy passed a polygraph test … and then killed the f*cking guy that was giving it to him!”
Ted Bundy did in fact murder over 30 people during his reign of terror in the late eighties, but DC is wrong in that the serial killer killed the person administering the polygraph test to him.
Either way, a rejuvenated DC is secure in his career, despite all the past issues with Jones.
“I am so secure and happy in what I’ve done in my career that I don’t need anything else,” Cormier said. “Someone asked me on the way over here, ‘is this fight a justification, how do I justify my title reign?’ I said I don’t have to, I know what I’ve done, when all is said and done, when I’m long gone, I’ll always have been the UFC champion, and now I’ve been UFC champion for three years. I’m done with justifying. I’m done with that.”
UFC 220 takes place on Saturday, January 20 from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts with Stipe Miocic and Francis Ngannou headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
