Demian Maia is currently sitting on the sideline as UFC Welterweight Champion Tyron Woodley defends his title against Stephen Thompson in the main event of UFC 209, it’s rematch of their first fight at UFC 205.
Maia has also turned down fights with former UFC Welterweight Champion Robbie Lawler and surging welterweight Jorge Masvidal.
In a long post on his Facebook page, Maia wanted two things, for UFC President Dana White to keep his promise about a welterweight title shot and to explain why he turned down fights.
Maia hasn’t competed himself since UFC On Fox 21 in 2016, where he submitted former UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Carlos Condit in the first round.
