Dennis Bermudez was headlining his first ever UFC event at UFC Fight Night 104, but he was knocked out by the returning Chan Sung Jung that night. Bermudez, who has suffered HIA AHew defeats before, feels that the referee stopped the fight a little early.
“I thought it was a little bit early of a stoppage,” he said to MMA Junkie. “I know I was on Herb’s leg. Like, I knew (Jung) was there trying to hit me, so I was shooting on him. It’s just Herb was – I know Herb was doing his job just to keep us both safe in there. But yeah, I had a big platform to make a rise to the top, and it didn’t go our way tonight.”
Jung was competing for the first time since UFC 163 over three years ago, as he was performing mandatory military service in his home country. Bermudez, despite the upset loss to Jung, is still trying to look at the bright side of things.
“I definitely improved this fight from my last fight even though I didn’t get the victory,” he said. “Mistakes were made, ‘The Korean Zombie’ capitalized on it, and it’s all good. We’ll keep moving forward.”
Bermudez was a finalist on the UFC Ultimate Fighter 14 as well, but lost to Diego Brandao in those finals, he has won a total of nine fights in the UFC.
