There was some drama at the weigh-ins for the upcoming Matchroom Boxing USA card on DAZN.
While the main event, a WBA light heavyweight title defense between Dmitry Bivol and Joe Smith Jr., had no issues as both men easily made weight, the co-main event did not go as smoothly. The co-main event bout is a WBO junior welterweight title bout between Maurice Hooker and Mikkel LesPierre.
LesPierre made weight but Hooker came in to the scales at 140.5 lbs. Hooker was given two hours to shed the extra half-pound but that proved to be more difficult than originally thought. Hooker tried a second time to make weight and only was a quarter-pound above the limit. Once the two hours are up, Hooker weighed in for the last time and successfully made weight, keeping his title for the fight against LesPierre.

WBA Light Heavyweight title bout (175-pound limit):
- Dmitry Bivol: 173.5 lbs.
- Joe Smith Jr: 173 lbs.
WBO Junior Welterweight title bout (140-pound limit):
- Maurice Hooker: 140 lbs.
- Mikkel LesPierre: 138.75 lbs.
Light heavyweight bout:
- Callum Johnson: 173 lbs.
- Sean Monaghan: 174 lbs.
