Dominick Reyes is coming off what is arguably the biggest win of his professional MMA career, defeating Ovince St. Preux by decision at UFC 229.
An undefeated Reyes would apparently call out Anthony Smith for a bout at UFC 233 a short time after Smith’s main event win at UFC Fight Night Hamburg, but Smith allegedly turned down the opportunity.
Reyes would take to Twitter to blast Smith for turning the fight down:
Hey @lionheartsmith, I was told u turned me down for a #1 contender fight in Jan/233 bc ur hand’s sore, so I guess you HAVE excuses. Heal up, let's do it in Feb or March, you pick! I'm gonna test that "lionheart"! -- #devastated #earnit #notthatman pic.twitter.com/YgLYkh3gb8

Smith would get word of what Reyes tweeted and would issue several responses of his own through Twitter:

DUMB-anick
Lesson ONE:
Don't turn down fights w/Blachowicz & Manuwa then pretend you want to fight me.
Makes you look both afraid and thirsty. https://t.co/eOecDPZJwT
Lesson TWO:

There has been no response yet from Reyes as to what was tweeted by the higher ranked Smith. Neither fighter is booked for a bout at the moment, meaning there is a possibility they could still fight down the line.
