Dong Hyun Kim will now be a part of the pay-per-view portion of the UFC 207 card, as his fight with former Strikeforce Welterweight Champion Tarec Saffiedine was promoted to the main card following the removal of Cain Velasquez from the card by the Nevada Athletic Commission.
While Kim is happy to be in a more prominent spot on the card, he wants another fight on another card, this one would be against Demian Maia.
“To be in the title run, I think I have to dominate this fight, not just a win, but a dominating performance,” Kim said to MMA Junkie. “After this fight, I’d like to fight Demian Maia. I know he’s waiting for his title shot. I want to ask him to fight me, make some cash, and go fight his title fight.”
Kim, who lost out on a UFC Fight Night 99 main event opportunity after Gunnar Nelson got injured, was also concerned that the injury prone Saffiedine wouldn’t make it to this event either.
“I was actually praying I’d be able to enter the arena in Las Vegas,” said Kim.
UFC 207 takes place tonight from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Amanda Nunes and Ronda Rousey headlining.
