Following Sean Strickland's impressive unanimous decision victory over Adesanya at UFC 293, Du Plessis was next in line and edged Strickland via split-decision at UFC 297 to become the 185-pound King.
Adesanya hasn't fought since his shortcoming against Strickland, but has immediately won title fights following all three of his career losses.
The bout between Du Plessis and Adesanya is currently the only matchup made official the Australian-based card, however, more fight announcements are expected to be made soon.
UFC 305 goes down on Saturday, August 18 from the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia.
