Errol Spence Jr. vs. Keith Thurman Targeted For April

Undefeated unified welterweight champion, Errol Spence Jr. and former unified champ, Keith Thurman, are scheduled to clash in a yet-to-be-announced PBC on PPV event in April.

ESPN's Mike Coppinger was the first to report the news of the matchup being in the works, and that the fight will be a junior middleweight bout. Spence Jr. who currently holds the WBA, WBC, and IBF welterweight titles was granted a "special permit" from WBA President, Gabriel Mendoza, to fight outside of the weight class without having to relinquish his titles. He will then according to Mendoza have 60 days from his fight with Thurman to negotiate a deal with undefeated WBO welterweight champion, Terence Crawford, for a highly anticipated undisputed welterweight showdown.

Spence Jr. is sitting at 28-0 as a pro currently and is coming off a tenth-round TKO victory over former WBA champion, Yordenis Ugás back in April. Thurman on the other hand is 30-1-1 as a pro and will look to build on a unanimous decision win over former WBA super lightweight champ, Mario Barrios, last February.
