Exclusive: Max Holloway Talks New Nutritionist And Discusses Changes To His Camp

MMA

Max Holloway unified the UFC Featherweight Championship titles last June in convincing fashion, but if you've seen him doing UFC media this week, there's a new bounce to him,

After an injury to Frankie Edgar, Holloway's UFC 218 opponent will be Aldo -- who he beat back in June. When speaking to Fightful.com's James Lynch, he said that he preferred Edgar as the "new flavor," but will still savor the taste of defeating Aldo again. Victory isn't the only thing he's tasting, as he also touted the changes that his new nutritionist Tyler Minton has helped him make.

"I got 250 cupcakes coming in. Who doesn't like the new flavor? The same ones, I'll eat them again. They're all cupcakes to me. They're all on the menu," Holloway said at the UFC 218 open workouts. "I'm the same size I was last time, and I have way more energy. The last fight when we were getting down, I was doing a lot of things wrong, and Tyler came and fixed it. You see me how vivid I am. Tyler's the man. Last year I was in Toronto and I didn't have Thanksgiving. This year I ate four times for Thanksgiving."

Holloway colorfully recalled how he got in touch with Minton, who he says has been taking care of him ahead of his first title defense.

"Lockhart kept reaching out to my manager saying he wanted to work (together). Tyler's name came up and (he's) one of Lockhart's guys, and the rest is history. Not just regular food, this guy is making me snacks. I love rice! This guy has been feeding me rice! I'm about that lamb chop life!," said Holloway.

Lynch was able to speak to Minton himself, who shared his story about how he first got on board with the UFC Feathwerweight Champion. Minton revealed that he went to Hawaii three weeks ago to help Holloway start his cut.

UFC 218 takes place Saturday, December 2 from the Little Ceasers Arena in Detroit, Michigan. Fightful.com will have full, live coverage of the show, including a post-show podcast covering UFC 218, the TUF 26 Finale and Bellator 189.
