Cat Zingano is not satisfied with her inaugural Bellator ranking, but she is not going to let that distract her from the task at hand at Bellator 256.
Zingano (11-4) ranked no. 8 on Bellator's inaugural women's pound-for-pound ranking (she has since dropped to no. 0), and no. 3 at featherweight. Zingano caught up with Fightful ahead of her sophomore promotional fight at Bellator 256 against Olivia Parker. "Alpha Cat" reacted to her initial ranking and pointed to her status as a UFC fighter before making the transition.
"Whatever. It's a very deep pool of 145 women there. I'm so honored to be part of that. They are actually building that division and they're working on that division. It's very cool and there are a lot of badasses in there so I'm honored to be part of it. It's weird that I was a top-five fighter in the world in the last promotion I was in," she asserted. "Now I'm eighth in this one. It's a little strange. But it'll put a chip on my shoulder."
"A healthy chip on my shoulder," she continued. "It'll make me earn it. I don't understand where they came from with their numbers and their logic, but that's not up to me. What's up to me is to put on good fights and put in more fights under Bellator. I don't know if they base it only off me having a debut here, but cool. It is what it is. That's not the point. The point is to go out and do what I love to do and it will speak for itself in time."
Bellator 256 takes place at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut on Friday, April 9. The card is headlined by a Bellator Light Heavyweight Grand Prix opener between Ryan Bader and Lyoto Machida. Keep up with Fightful for all your event-related coverage.
