Eddie Alvarez expects Glover Teixeira's toughness to give him the edge at UFC Vegas 13, but not before taking a whalloping from Thiago Santos.
Alvarez, Dan Ige and Alexander Hernandez shared their predictions for the UFC Vegas 13 main event with Fightful ahead of Saturday's card.
"I'm going to say that Santos comes out fast," Alvarez said. "Glover is such a hard guy to finish. I feel like he proved in recent history that he is not going anywhere and is still a hard guy to finish. I'll take Glover but after he takes some damage, and then Glover wins."
"I think that is a pretty tough one," Ige chimed in. "I think Santos would be the favorite. I always like to go with the old dogs. I'm going with Glover on this one. I picked Glover to beat Anthony Smith as well. I think just don't count him out yet. He's a beast. He's got really solid basics and super heavy hands. I think he can beat Thiago but you never know. Thiago is a beast too and I would never doubt that guy."
Hernandez took inspiration from Teixeira's absolute beating of Anthony Smith in May.
"I got Glover just because he put on such a gangster performance in his last fight against [Anthony] Smith, who is now my teammate," Hernandez shared. "Anthony took the heat to him and Glover sat back like a vet and was like, 'I'm going to weather this storm and come back in the later rounds like a gangster,' and he did. Seeing that dog in him definitely let a fire under me and encourages some faith that he is going to pop off some more before it is over."
UFC Vegas 13 takes place from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday, November 14. The ESPN+ card is headlined by Thiago Santos vs. Glover Teixeira. Keep up with Fightful for all your fight night coverage.
