MMA

UFC Women's Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg opened up about her upcoming fight against Holly Holm and the chaos that is the drug testing.

Cyborg met with Fightful's James Lynch to talk about her UFC 219 match while in Detroit for UFC 218 week. Cyborg, who has failed drug tests in the past said she wanted the fight and that both women be drug tested to prove both competitors are clean. The UFC champion has also been tested multiple times by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) and has said in the past that she isn’t too pleased about that.

“No, because her team started saying stuff about me [about the drug tests] and I said if you have a problem with me, then let’s do the drug testing. How many tests do you want for and for her between the camps? I don’t say stuff about her in the past in camp. It’s nothing against Holly and her team. I don’t see her saying anything about me. I think it’s her team talking. I know she’s answering [questions] but I think she doesn’t understand what I said about the camp or Holly doing tests,” Cyborg said.

Cyborg also opened up about the several training partners she has had in preparation for this fight, including Marion Reneau, who fought Holm in 2015. Cyborg said Reneau has helped her as well as several other fighters with diverse fighting styles to get Cyborg ready to face the former UFC Women's Bantamweight Champion.

“She’s come into training sometimes because she lives close by. I went to Bethe Correia in Thailand and then I brought one guy from South Africa who has had more than 100 fights at Muay Thai, southpaw, also a brown belt in Jiu-Jitsu, good wrestler. I think everything you know about your opponent, the better for you,” Cyborg said.

UFC 219 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, with Cyborg vs. Holm being the main event. Cyborg's interview with Lynch can be seen in the video above.
