Exclusive: UFC 219's Marvin Vettori Wasn't Happy He Didn't Get Media After Last Win, Discusses Layoff

MMA

Marvin Vettori has had a strong start to his UFC career, earning two wins in his first three fights. At UFC 219, he looks to start his first-ever UFC winning streak.

Despite being happy with his June victory over Vitor Miranda at UFC Fight Night Oklahoma City, Vettori wasn't pleased with the UFC after. Vettori told Fightful.com's James Lynch that not only did he get passed up on a post-fight interview, he had no media to speak of after his win.

"I wasn't that happy that UFC didn't give me the chance to speak after. I had no media after," said Vettori, who noted that the show was likely running short on time.

Vettori faces a six month layoff between Oklahoma City and UFC 219, which he thinks was for the best. But don't look for him to be out of the cage long following his next fight.

"I wanted to fight before, but at the same time it was good because I had some little injuries and I had some time to heal and I'm here for the next one. Hopefully in the next year I'll fight three times if possible. That's my goal, two or three. I took my time, trained, and improved" Vettori said.

In the full interview, Marvin Vettori (12-3) discusses his upcoming fight against Omari Akhmedov (17-4) at UFC 219 on Dec. 30. Marvin also talks about his win over Vitor Miranda, his training camp and what's next for him after this matchup .
