Israel Adesanya had to do a double take with Josh Culibao.
Culibao is coming off an exciting split draw against Charles Jourdain at UFC Fight Island 5. Prior to that fight, the Australian-native told Fightful about an amusing encounter he had with now UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya.
"I was fighting in UFC Auckland. We had the official weigh-ins on Friday night. My manager wanted us to go out and eat because I made weight," Culibao recalled. "We all went out and had dinner, but my brothers decided, 'We've never been to Auckland before and we want to take it all in.' Drinks started flowing and my brothers ended up drinking and staying out late."
"The next day, Saturday morning, when we had the ceremonial weigh-ins, I was backstage and Israel walked in and he looked at me. He goes, 'I swear you were out last night getting drunk. You were partying with me all night.' I go, 'Nah, those were my brothers.' My brothers were out drinking and partying with Israel," he concluded. "He was a bit confused."
