Every UFC fight is a must win bout for the competitors in the Octagon, but this particular bout is hugely important for Sanders.

“I need to win this fight (to save my job), I’m not really thinking about anything else other than winning. That’s all it is right now, just thinking about winning because it is the mentality…win. I’m just focused on that and having a good time, putting it all together and letting it ride,” says Sanders in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.

Sanders has a 2-3-0 record thus far in UFC competition, with those wins coming over the duo of Maximo Blanco and Patrick Williams.

The UFC star used to date WWE superstar Becky Lynch, but the relationship ended due to family matters that Sanders had to take care of.

“Everything was cool when we separated, it was just mostly family stuff man…with my daughter. Me taking her on full time at the end of the year…after the last fight, just being the father and the mom role all at once. So that took a lot of energy, she (Becky) travels a lot and does a lot of extra curriculum activities. So putting that energy in with her (his daughter) and really putting my all into that, it was my opportunity to do that. I want her to know that I got her forever and ever, so it was great and now the time is right and we got us a fight on our hands and we’re just weeks away,” says Sanders.

UFC Fight Night Phoenix takes place on Sunday, February 17 from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona with Francis Ngannou and Cain Velasquez headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
