TUF 26 alumni Maia Stevenson is set to make her UFC debut this weekend at UFC Fight Night Belem and the reality show star is facing Polyana Viana.
Belem, Brazil isn’t exactly the easiest place to travel to, which is something Stevenson and her team experience first hand.
“The plane ride was about thirty hours, including layover, so it was quite a long trek out here. There’s no easy was to Belem (Brazil),” Stevenson said in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Stevenson was ousted in the opening round of the UFC Ultimate Fighter 26 by Sijara Eubanks, who would make it to the finals of the show.
Maia’s husband is TUF 1 and TUF: The Comeback alumni Joe Stevenson, but they had two completely different experiences on the show.
“I loved it! I know a lot of people have different takes on it. My husband Joe (Stevenson), he must’ve had a different experiences that I did (on season 1 & The Comeback) because going on in the show, he was telling me all these different things to watch out for and to prepare for. What I wasn’t prepared for was what an amazing time I had. I spent six weeks with some really incredible women. Coming out of it with a lot of good friends and a lot of good experience, being able to go with all that talent and be in that environment, I had a good experience. I’m pretty sure every girl on that show had a good experience, win or lose,” said Stevenson.
UFC Fight Night Belem takes place on Saturday, February 3 from the Manguerinho Arena in Belem, Brazil with Lyoto Machida and Eryk Anders headlining. Fiightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
