Calvin Kattar is back in the Octagon this coming April at UFC 223 and the featherweight star is going to be in action against Renato Carneiro.
UFC 223 looks like its going to be one of the most stacked cards of the year, but all Kattar wants to do is bring that great vibe from Boston to New York.
“Its a great experience, New York is cool and I got family out there. New York took Boston and now Boston is going to New York. Its nothing different for me, I’m excited for the quick turnaround, waves to jump right back into camp. Its a great vibe again, we have Joe Lauzon on the card, that’s always awesome. His student Mike Rodriguez…its going to be a great vibe out back and a short drive for everybody. Its going to mean so much for the Boston feeling going in and we’re just excited about it,” says Kattar in an exclusive interview with Fightful’s James Lynch.
Kattar is coming off of a victory over Shane Burgos at UFC 220, it was a victory that took place in his native Boston, Massachusetts.
Speaking of Boston, a surging Kattar trains with Boston’s own Joe Lauzon and the training has helped him get ready for that lies ahead at UFC 223.
“Its awesome, not only to be training out of Joe’s, but to get the quality work from all of the top New England guys. He’s (Lauzon) on the card this time, what a great experience and its Broadway BJJ getting over in there with Kyle (Bochniak). 607 Fight Sports with my coach Carlos Neto and then getting over the best work. I feel that we have our disposable and are taking advantage of it,” says Kattar.
UFC 223 takes place on Saturday, April 7 from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York with Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
