Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series keeps pumping out prospects for the UFC, with Maycee Barber being one of the latest contract recipients.
Last month saw Barber defeat Jamie Colleen on the July 17 episode of Contender Series, which earned her another "W," as well as a UFC contract. An emotional Barber said that while emotional in the cage, almost everything she looks back on about the fight gives her reason to smile.
"I did what I needed to do and reached a big goal in my life. Of course I was emotional, having my whole family there. I'm a super emotional person, and I'm really good at keeping it in, but only for so long," Barber told Fightful.com's James Lynch. "There's a couple of people I'm sure that are thinking it's hype, but they can think what they want to think. I watched it back and Michael Bisping said something about wanting to be a hater at first, and then turning and was kind of impressed. That was cool to hear."
After her impressive performance, Barber says that she's not had any other dialogue with the UFC, doesn't know who she'd want to fight, and isn't sure of the plans for her moving forward -- yet.
"No, I didn't actually get to talk any of them. But we'll see, I haven't talked to them yet besides getting the contract, signing it and sending it back to them," Barber told Fightful.com
Barber said that she's hoping to make her debut in the fall in Denver, partly because she's local, and partly because she's a fan of Donald "Cowboy" Cerrone, who is taking on Mike Perry on the show.
