First Lightweight Champion To Be Crowned At LFA 17

The inaugural Legacy Fighting Alliance Lightweight Champion is going to be crowned at LFA 17 as Thiago Moises takes on Robert Watley.

Moises (9-1-0) is going to be making his LFA debut in this fight and he is doing so on the strength of a four fight winning streak. Moises was the final Resurrection Fighting Alliance Lightweight Champion, defeating Bellator MMA veteran Zach Freeman to defend the belt for the final time at RFA 44. Moises has only suffered a single defeat as a professional MMA fighter and that defeat came at the hands of UFC veteran Jason Knight.

Watley (7-1-0) is also going to be making his LFA debut in this fight and he does so while on a seven fight winning streak. Watley is a longtime veteran of the Shogun Fights promotion, winning four of his five fights in that company. Watley hasn’t suffered a defeat in over three years, with that lone loss coming to Francisco Isata at Shogun Fights 10 in June of 2014.

Legacy Fighting Alliance 17 takes place on Friday, July 21 from the Grady Cole Center in Charlotte, North Carolina with Thiago Moises and Robert Watley headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on AXS TV.
