Frankie Edgar Dropping To The Bantamweight Division

Former UFC Lightweight Champion Frankie Edgar was last seen in action in the main event of UFC 240, suffering a unanimous decision loss to UFC Featherweight Champion Max Holloway.

A major change is being made by Edgar going forward, as the former lightweight champion is dropping to the bantamweight division and would like to make his divisional debut at UFC 244.

Edgar made the official announcement via Instagram:

Mark Henry, who is Edgar’s coach, says that he has been wanting to see Edgar drop to 135 pounds for a long time now.

“I’ve been wanting him to make this move since he first got in the UFC,” Henry said to ESPN. “It’s dangerous when you’re fighting somebody that much bigger than you.”

There has been no comment from the UFC yet as to whether or not Edgar will make his bantamweight division debut at UFC 244.
