Former UFC title challenger, Gilbert Burns and top contender, Belal Muhammad are set to meet in a five-round bout that will now serve as the new co-main event of UFC 288 on May 6 in Newark, New Jersey.
UFC President Dana White officially confirmed the booking via a live video stream on Thursday. Burns is 9-2 in his last 11 Octagon outings and is coming off a unanimous decision win over former two-time UFC title challenger, Jorge Masvidal, back at UFC 287 earlier this month. Muhammad meanwhile is 8-0-1 in his last nine fights and will look to build on a second-round TKO victory over, Sean Brady, at UFC 280 last October in Abu Dhabi.
