The UFC On Fox 28 card has taken a hit as the lightweight division bout between Gilbert Burns and Olivier Aubin-Mercier has been pulled from the card.

A statement was issued by the UFC on the situation:

Conor McGregor Claims He's In Preliminary Agreements With The Ambani Family To Face Logan Paul In A Boxing Match

“Saturday's UFC Fight Night bout between Gilbert Burns and Olivier Aubin-Mercier has been removed from the card at Amway Center in Orlando. Upon his arrival, the UFC medical team determined that it would be unsafe for Burns to cut additional weight necessary to meet the 156-pound limit. The card will proceed as scheduled with twelve fights.”

Burns had tweeted about the situation early Wednesday morning, but has since deleted the tweets.

There is no word at this time as to whether or not the bout is going to be canceled or if both fighters will go their separate ways.

Aubin-Mercier and Burns were set to close out the UFC Fight Pass portion of the preliminary card, a bout between Sam Alvey and Marcin Prachnio is expected to fill that role now.

MMA Fighting is now reporting that when Burns arrived in Orlando days before the event, a weigh-in was done and the fighter was approximately 30 pounds over the lightweight weight limit (155 pounds).

UFC On Fox 28 takes place on Saturday, February 24 from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida with Josh Emmett and Jeremy Stephens headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox.
