Gilbert Burns Wants Stevie Ray Or Olivier Aubin-Mercier Next

MMA

Gilbert Burns earned his first knockout victory in his UFC tenure after demolishing Jason Saggo at UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh.

The Brazilian wants to get back in the Octagon as soon as possible and he has a few opponents he wouldn’t mind fighting next.

Dark Side Of The Cage To Premiere In January, Will Cover Ronda Rousey, Matt Hughes, Kimbo Slice, More

“Because he’s (Olivier Aubin-Mercier) a good grappler,” Burns said to MMA Fighting. “I tweeted at him but he said he doesn’t know if he will be ready for December. But I want to fight in December. It doesn’t need to be with him, no. Whoever it is. I saw that Stevie Ray was tweeting, asking for a fight too, so we’ll see. If I were the matchmaker, (Aubin-Mercier) is the fight I’d do because it’s an interesting match-up. When I ask for a fight I’m not only thinking about me and my career, I also consider if the fight will be interesting for the company and the fans as well. But is Olivier isn’t ready, Stevie Ray would be cool.”

Besides making the challenge to both fighters through an interview segment, the Brazilian also made the challenges through Twitter and got responses from both future potential opponents.

Aubin-Mercier last competed at UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh and defeated Tony Martin, while Ray last competed in a losing effort to Paul Felder at UFC Fight Night Glasgow.

Despite the fact that all three fighters are up for the bouts, the UFC has yet to book any of those potential fights.
