The Global Fight League is looking to change combat sports.
In a press release, the Global Fight League, previously known as the World Fight League, announced that they will launch the world's first team-based international MMA league, which will be chronicled in a docuseries that will explore the current state of the combat sports industry.
The press release noted that 48 men and 16 women will fight for first-team contracts, as they will compete in one of eight tournaments across three events for the first official GFL Team Contracts. Submissions are now open for fighters to register for the docuseries and tournaments at mmagfl.com.
GFL will be the first-ever MMA entity with a 50/50 revenue share plan between the independent team owners and athletes, and all athletes will be classified as employees with guaranteed contracts, health insurance, and pension plans.

LAS VEGAS–The Global Fight League (GFL)--previously announced as the “World Fight League”–will launch the world’s first team-based international MMA league in unprecedented fashion: with an in-depth docuseries exploring the current state of the combat sports industry.
The docuseries will give fans a first-of-its-kind look at the formation of the first true MMA League, from fighter recruitment and business operations to the selection of eight inaugural global team franchise locations.
A key focus of the series will be following 64 professional fighters' lives as they compete in one of eight tournaments across three events for the first official GFL Team Contracts. Submissions are now open for fighters to register for the docuseries and tournaments at mmagfl.com.
GFL made headlines when founder Darren Owen announced the league as the first ever MMA entity to implement a 50/50 revenue share between the independent team owners and athletes. The groundbreaking league will also classify all GFL athletes as employees with guaranteeing contracts, health insurance, and pension plans.
