Ilima-Lei MacFarlane is coming off of a co-main event victory over the previously undefeated Jessica Middleton at Bellator 178.
Bellator MMA recently signed UFC veteran Marion Reneau to a multi-fight contract and MacFarlane wouldn’t mind being the fighter to welcome her to the promotion.
“That would be great,” MacFarlane said to MMA Junkie. “Valerie’s a great fighter. She was in the UFC. I think that would be legit – that would be a legit matchup.”
MacFarlane is currently undefeated as a professional MMA and has a record of 6-0-0, with five of those wins coming in Bellator MMA.
One of the biggest reasons that MacFarlane wants to fight Reneau is that there isn’t a lot of contenders in the women’s flyweight division.
“I think that as far as the women’s division, besides Anastasia, they’re going to have to bring in a veteran,” MacFarlane said. “Or even, I know Colleen (Schneider) has been making noise about getting a title shot, but she also hasn’t (made weight) yet, so I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Prior to coming to Bellator MMA, the undefeated fighter was best known for the “Soccer Mom Fight” in the Xplode Fight Series, where she defeated an overmatched fighter who was dressed like a soccer mom.
