A women’s bantamweight division attraction may be on its way to the UFC Fight Night St. Louis card as Irene Aldana could find herself across the Octagon from Talita Oliveira.
It was Aldana that made the announcement through Instagram:
Aldana (7-4-0) is currently winless under the UFC banner, dropping fights to the duo of Leslie Smith and Katlyn Chookagian. Aldana has previously challenged for the Invicta FC Bantamweight Title, losing to then champion Tonya Evinger at Invicta FC 13. Aldana did wind up winning four fights in Invicta FC competition, which includes wins over UFC veterans Jessamyn Duke and Peggy Morgan.
Oliveira (5-2-0) is also winless thus far in her UFC journey, having dropped a fight to Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night Rotterdam. Oliveira has only seen two of her seven professional MMA fights go the distance and the fighter has a record of 1-1-0 in those fights. Oliveira did win her lone amateur MMA bout, defeating Dailane Da Silva by first round submission in December of 2014.
UFC Fight Night St. Louis takes place on Saturday, January 14 from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Missouri with no main event announced at this time. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
