Although MMA coach Jason Parillo has been busy working with Michael Bisping's UFC 217 fight, he's also got two other fighters on his mind: BJ Penn and Cris "Cyborg."
Parillo spoke to Fightful and said Cyborg is prepping for her next fight, but there's no telling when her next fight will be or who will it be against. It's been rumored that Cyborg could return to the Octagon soon against Holly Holm in Cyborg's first UFC women's featherweight championship defense -- if they can come to terms.
"She's such a beast. I hope we can get that Holly Holm fight, but nothing's been signed yet. She's been training at the gym year-round anyway. No one has signed anything yet, but even still, we're good to go," Parillo said.
As for BJ Penn, Parillo isn't sure whether or not the former UFC lightweight champion has called it a career or not. Penn has lost his last five fights and hasn't won in the UFC since 2010. Parillo said he is fine with Penn retiring, but knows that Penn retiring is never a guarantee. Penn recently lost to Dennis Siver at UFC Fight Night 112.
"You just never know with BJ. I talked to him a couple of days ago. We've stayed in touch, but I'll never say BJ Penn's never going to fight. He loves the sport. I'm fine with him staying retired, but the answer is that I don't know. You never really know," Parillo said.
