Jenel Lausa Looking To Round Out His Game

MMA

Jenel Lausa made his UFC debut this last weekend at UFC Fight Night 101 and while it was a successful one, he’s looking to round out his MMA game for future fights.

“For this specific fight I really wanted to focus on striking, knowing that I have a competitive edge in terms of power against him,” Lausa said backstage after UFC Fight Night 101, courtesy of MMA Junkie. “But it doesn’t necessarily mean I’m focused on strictly striking moving forward, we’re going to keep trying to find the best option to win the next one.”

Lausa has championship aspirations, and knows it's crucial to work on all facets of his arsenal.

“I definitely hope that we’re going to get to that point,” Lausa said. “I’m younger, so I have more time to learn everything else. Hopefully by the time it happens I’m very well-rounded in my jiu-jitsu, wrestling, everything, so that when we’re given that chance we’ll be ready. I’m very, very happy I’m able to showcase my talent just so everyone knows there are Filipinos in the UFC and that I’m representing Philippines in MMA.”

Lausa defeated Yao Zhikui at UFC Fight Night 101, the win came via unanimous decision. His next fight has yet to be announced.
