Twenty-win bantamweight prospect Jimmie Rivera doesn’t have a fight scheduled at the moment.
TUF champion John Dodson is interested in fighting the bantamweight, but Rivera thinks that Dodson would just run from him the whole time.
“I just think at the end of the day it would be a boring fight, because he’s just gonna run, people are gonna boo and that’s just the way it is,” Rivera said on The MMA Hour. “He’s a scared fighter. He hits and runs. He doesn’t stand in the pocket. I wasn’t really impressed with his last fight with Wineland. Wineland didn’t really do much, too, which was weird. Wineland was very one-dimensional. I don’t even think Dodson hits that hard. I think people run in. The only thing he’s good at is kind of getting people to run in.”
Rivera is coming off of the biggest win of his professional MMA career, as he defeated the now retired Urijah Faber by decision at UFC 203.
Despite getting the biggest win of his career, the bantamweight star didn’t get a lot of publicity out of it.
“I f*cked up Urijah Faber,” Rivera said. “I schooled him. And I got no publicity out of it. … I’m like the dark horse of the division. I don’t know what’s going on.”
The fighter has also competed four time in the UFC, earning victories over Faber, Iuri Alcantara, Pedro Munhoz and Marcus Brimage.
