A third fight has been added to what is becoming a stacked UFC 217 card as UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends the gold against Rose Namajunas.
The fight was made official by the UFC earlier today.
Jedrzejczyk (14-0-0) is going to be making the sixth defense of her championship, having previously defended it against Jessica Penna, Claudia Gadelha, Valerie Letourneau, Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Jessica Andrade. Jedrzejczyk also competed twice in the UFC prior to her championship win, defeating Claudia Gadelha and Juliana Lima. Jedrzejczyk has seen her last four fights go the distance and it has been over two years since the last time she got a finish.
Namajunas (6-3-0) has won four of her last five under the UFC banner, last defeating Michelle Waterson at UFC On Fox 24. Namajunas has previously fought for the UFC Women’s Strawweight Title, losing to Carla Esparza by submission at the UFC Ultimate Fighter 20 Finale. Namajunas also competed in the Invicta FC promotion, where she holds a win over fellow UFC fighter Emily Kagan.
UFC 217 takes place on Saturday, November 4 from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York with Michael Bisping and Georges St Pierre headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
