Joe Duffy recently signed a multi-fight contract to stay with the UFC, a promotion he has won four of out five fights in.
One of the major factors that played a role in the fighter returning to the UFC was the promotion’s drug testing program alongside USADA.
“Obviously, with the USADA program (at UFC) too, that’s something that’s very important to me. That’s something I’m really for. All of these factors came into play, but I feel like the offer I got from the UFC was very good,” Duffy said on The MMA Hour.
During his time as a free agent, the fighter did speak with the Viacom owned Bellator MMA promotion.
However, while the offer from the promotion was good, it didn’t make the fighter feel the same was that he did compared to the UFC offer.
“I spoke to Bellator myself,” Duffy said. “It was more of a flat rate offer. I just felt good about the UFC offer. There wasn’t much difference between them, but I just feel that the UFC is the place for me right now.”
There is no return date set yet for Duffy and the UFC, but he is expected to return to the Octagon by the end of the year.
