Joe Rogan has weighed in on the lightweight division and believes Michael Chandler "is the favourite" if he faces Conor McGregor next.
The UFC commentator was speaking on his podcast 'The Joe Rogan Experience' with comedian and former UFC heavyweight Brenden Schaub and was weighing in on how he believes the UFC lightweight division could play out. Rogan believes that "purist" fans will want Charles Oliveira next for the title should Khabib Nurmagomedov not return. That leaves Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor to potentially do battle and Rogan doesn't fancy "The Notorious" to bounce back against the former Bellator lightweight champion.
“The purist option is Charles Oliveira. If you’re a purist you want that fight. If you want to make a shitload of money before Conor fights someone else, you have the (Poirier) rematch," Rogan said to Schaub (h/t MMA Mania). "Here’s the thing, if Conor fights Michael Chandler next, which is a possibility, if Dustin fights Charles Oliveira and Conor fights Michael Chandler, what are the odds that Conor beats Michael Chandler? I think Michael Chandler is a favorite in that fight, which is very dangerous for your money.”
