A middleweight division attraction is going to be headlining the Bellator 233 card, announced during the Bellator 225 broadcast, as John Salter is in action against Costello Van Steenis.
Salter (16-4-0) has won six of seven bouts under the Bellator MMA banner, last defeating Chidi Njokuani by first round submission at Bellator 210. Salter has suffered just a single defeat in Bellator MMA competition and that came against Bellator Middleweight Champion Rafael Lovato Jr. at Bellator 205. Salter also won just one of three during a stint in the UFC, with that lone win coming over Jason MacDonald at UFC 113.
Van Steenis (12-1-0) is undefeated thus far in Bellator MMA competition, having defeated Steve Skrzat, Kevin Fryer, Chris Honeycutt and Mike Shipman. Van Steenis is going to be headlining his first Bellator MMA card, despite having been with the promotion for almost two years. Van Steenis has competed thirteen times as a professional MMA fighter and just three of those encounters went the distance.
Bellator 233 takes place on Friday, November 8 from the Winstar World Resort & Casino in Thackerville, Oklahoma with John Salter and Costello Van Steenis headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on the Paramount Network.
