Johnny Eduardo is in the midst of preparation for a fight against Matthew Lopez next month at UFC 212.
Eduardo also has a girlfriend who is a professional MMA fighter named is Vanessa Melo, who once fought while pregnant.
"I’m already a father of three girls (Julia, Juliana and Lorena), and my girlfriend is pregnant,” Eduardo told MMA Fighting. "It happened, we weren’t expecting it. She’s also an athlete, a MMA fighter, and we went to Finland to compete. She fought while pregnant [laughs]. She had no idea she was pregnant. If I knew it, I wouldn’t never let her do it. That’s crazy [laughs]."
Melo is fine after the fight and has since delivered a healthy baby girl, the fourth daughter for Eduardo.
The Brazilian is going to be fighting in front of his girlfriend and home country at UFC 212, something the fighter is excited about.
"I’m happy and honored to be fighting at home again,” he said. "I didn’t do well the first time, I made a mistake, but that’s part of the game. I learned a lot with this loss and the other losses I had throughout my career.”
UFC 212 takes place on Saturday, June 3 from the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with Jose Aldo and Max Holloway headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
