Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones time has arrived because his hearing in front of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has been scheduled for Tuesday, February 27.
The hearing is set to address Jones potential USADA drug test failure in line with UFC 214, where the fighter originally defeated Daniel Cormier to win the UFC Light Heavyweight Title. Jones has since been stripped of the title and the win over DC has been overturned to a no contest.
It should be noted that while CSAC is set to issue its punishment to Jones at the hearing, a separate punishment is going to be issued by the United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) at a yet to be determined date.
Jones has always denied taking any illegal substances and has even taken a self administered lie detector test to prove his innocence.
Since Jones had previously failed a drug test prior to UFC 200, a four year suspension could be handed down to the fighter from the CSAC or at a future hearing from USADA.
Malki Kawa, who serves as Jones agent, recently stated that he expected the former light heavyweight champion to be back in action by the end of the year.
