UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones last competed at UFC 235, defeating Anthony Smith by unanimous decision.
It would appear that Jones’ next move is taking shape and that comes in the form of a bout against former UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic.
The light heavyweight champion would go on Twitter to reveal his possible next fight:
I don’t think you guys are ready to witness @stipemiocic and I, would July give you all enough time?
— Jon Bones Jones (@JonnyBones) March 27, 2019
Miocic hasn’t competed since UFC 226, where he lost the UFC Heavyweight Championship to Daniel Cormier via first round knockout.
If the bout were to come together, it would mark the first time that Jones has competed at heavyweight, which is a move the light heavyweight champion has teased in the past.
Jones also teased the bout happening in July, with the July UFC pay-per-view usually capping off the promotion’s International Fight Week. UFC 239 is scheduled for July 9 in Las Vegas, which is the same week for UFC International Fight Week.
There has been no response from Miocic to Jones as of this writing, as he has been angling for a rematch against Cormier since losing the heavyweight gold to him last year.
