Rewind to the spring of 2011, now-former WEC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo makes his UFC debut against Mark Hominick in the inaugural 145-pound title fight in the promotion's history. Aldo dominated Hominick en route to a unanimous decision to become the Ultimate Fighting Championship's first-ever Featherweight Champion. Aldo would hold the title until 2015, defeating the likes of Mark Hominick, Kenny Florian, Chad Mendes (twice), Frankie Edgar, The Korean Zombie, and Ricardo Lamas. Unfortunately for Aldo, he'd run into the buzzsaw known as Conor McGregor and would subsequently be knocked out by 'The Notorious' one in just 13 seconds.

After McGregor's exit from the 155-pound division, Aldo would defeat Frankie Edgar for a second time to become a two-time UFC Featherweight Champion. Aldo would drop the title to Max Holloway, then come up short in the rematch against Holloway, marking the first time in his career that he'd lose back-to-back bouts. Aldo would right the ship with victories over Jeremy Stephens and Renato Moicano to earn another shot at the 145-pound strap but would come up short against current champion Alexander Volkanovski. Aldo would drop his next two bouts, running the losing streak to three and putting his career in doubt.

However, Aldo wasn't ready to call it quits and would rattle off three-straight wins over Marlon 'Chito' Vera, Pedro Munhoz, and Rob Font. Aldo would lose his unofficial retirement bout against surging contender Merab Dvalishvili this past August in the final fight of his UFC Deal.

A movie chronicling the life and career of Aldo was made in 2016 titled 'Mais Forte Que o Mundo: A História de José Aldo.'

Aldo has rumored to be making his professional boxing debut next month in Brazil, yet no date or opponent has been confirmed for the potential bout.
