Justin Gaethje Out To Prove That He’s The Best In The World

MMA

Former World Series Of Fighting Lightweight Champion Justin Gaethje signed a multi-fight contract with the UFC a few days ago.

Not only is Gaethje interested in becoming the UFC Lightweight Champion, but the fighter also wants to prove that he’s the best in the world.

Dark Side Of The Cage To Premiere In January, Will Cover Ronda Rousey, Matt Hughes, Kimbo Slice, More

“Now I get a chance to prove I’m the best in the world,” Gaethje said to MMA Junkie. “I’ve been saying for forever that I felt like a coward every time I said that I was the best in the world because I wasn’t in a position to fight the best in the world. Now I am, so I can say that. One fight at a time. I don’t care who my second, third, fourth fight is. One fight right now. Like I said on Twitter, I want the best, scariest dude that they’re going to give me. I’m looking for a challenge. I’m looking to lose. I don’t give a (expletive) about any of that. If I can fight for seven minutes agains anybody, the fans will get their money’s worth, and my reputation will go sky-high.”

Gaethje wasn’t just the first ever WSOF Lightweight Champion, but he was also the only lightweight champion in the promotion’s history.

The former champion already has a list of fighters he would like to fight when he finally does step into the Octagon.

“To be honest with you, I looked in the mirror and I said three names to me: Khabib, Ferguson and Barboza, and I almost had a panic attack when Barboza came to mind; right when that came to my mind, I said, all right, that’s the mother(expletive) that I’m fighting,” Gaethje said. “I called my manager, and I said, ‘This is who I want.’ Who knows? That’s just what I’m looking for right now. Obviously, I’m an idiot. No one’s in there asking for the most dangerous mother(expletive) on the planet.”

There is no debut date or opponent set yet for Gaethje, but an announcement is expected anytime now.
