Kelvin Gastelum is fighting former UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping in the main event of UFC Fight Night Shanghai.
The TUF winner was initially supposed to fight another former UFC Middleweight Champion in Anderson Silva at the event, but Gastelum calls Bisping the better fight for him.
“Mike is obviously the former champion, he’s highly ranked and his position in the UFC is very high, so this is a great move for my career,” Gastelum said at the UFC Fight Night Shanghai conference call.
Silva was pulled from the event a short time back after he was notified by USADA about a potential drug test violation.
Gastelum also believes that since Bisping is ranked number two at the moment, a victory over him would do big things for his career.
“He’s ranked No. 2, fresh off his title fight with (Georges St-Pierre),” Gastelum said. “I feel like this is an even better fight for my career and I expect it to be a tough fight.”
UFC Fight Night Shanghai takes place on Saturday, November 25 from the Mercedes-Benz Arena in Shanghai, China with Michael Bisping and Kelvin Gastelum headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which streams live on UFC Fight Pass.
