Ketlen Vieira, after a win over Ashlee Evans-Smith last month, proclaimed that she wanted her next fight to come against a top 10 opponent.
The Brazilian has a target in Marion Reneau, who is not ranked in the top 10, but is still a target for Vieira for a completely different reason.
"I asked for Marion because she had good performances against Brazilians,” Vieira told MMA Fighting. "She submitted ‘Bate-Estaca’ and fought to a draw with Bethe, in a fight that I believe she won. That’s why I want to fight her."
Reneau hasn’t competed since she fought Bethe Correia to a draw at UFC Fight Night 106.
Vieira knows that if she does manage to get Reneau in the Octagon, it is going to be one of the toughest tests in her professional MMA career.
"She’s a tough fighter, had an excellent run in the UFC so far, and I want to test myself,” Vieira said. "She’s a high-level fighter and caught my attention. I want to fight the best to continue to move up the ranking. I don’t know if I’ll enter the top 10 with a win, but I want to fight tough opponents to test myself and climb the ranking."
In her previous two fights with the UFC, the undefeated Brazilian defeated the aforementioned Ashlee Evans-Evans and Kelly Faszholz.
