Former two division UFC champion Conor McGregor recently mocked UFC Lightweight Champion Khabib Nurmagomedov’s wife, saying Nurmagomedov married a “towel.”
An enraged Nurmagomedov has now responded to McGregor and has done so via Twitter:

McGregor, in another deleted tweet, would then say that there was a goat under the towel, which McGregor referred to as a “plot twist.”
The increasingly personal battle between Nurmagomedov and McGregor has possibly gone too far now in UFC President Dana White’s eyes, as he issued the following statement to MMA Junkie on the matter:
“I am aware of the recent social media exchange between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor. The ongoing situation has escalated to a level that is not acceptable. As such, we are taking the necessary steps to reach out to both athlete camps, and this situation is being addressed by all parties internally.”
There is no word yet at this time as to what the “necessary steps” are that the UFC will move forward with.
Nurmagomedov and McGregor have been embroiled in a personal feud for quite awhile now, with Nurmagomedov scoring a fourth round submission win over McGregor at UFC 229. The duo are also in the midst of serving suspensions related to the UFC 229 post-fight brawl, with McGregor’s suspension ending this month and Nurmagomedov’s ending later this summer.
