Khabib Nurmagomedov and UFC Interim Lightweight Champion Tony Ferguson are battling for the undisputed lightweight title in the main event of UFC 223.
The lightweight contender isn’t just planning on winning the gold that night, but plans on making it all look easy.
“I’m going to make this fight easy,” Khabib told Yahoo! Sports’ Kevin Iole. “I want people to talk about this fight ‘wow, nobody had done this before to Tony Ferguson. Like I did with Michael Johnson like I did with Rafael dos Anjos like I did with Edson Barboza. With everybody.”
Nurmagomedov and Ferguson have been scheduled to meet in the UFC several times before, but injuries have always prevented the clash from happening.
One reason that Nurmagomedov believes he can win the fight is due to the unbreakable feeling the fighter has while training.
“I’m different. I’m from the mountains,” Khabib said. “I grew up in a very tough place. I’m not from here, beautiful life, America. I grew up in a very tough place. I cannot give up; I never give up. (In) training, amateurs, professional, nobody can make me give up because, in my opinion, I always think I’m unbreakable.”
UFC 223 takes place on Saturday, April 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
