Khamzat Chimaev Misses Weight By Eight Pounds, UFC 279 Main Event In Doubt

After a messy brawl yesterday, the UFC's eventful week rolls on as Khamzat Chimaev has massively missed weight for his main event bout vs Nate Diaz scheduled for UFC 279 on Saturday.

Rumblings came out earlier in the day from Ariel Helwani that Chimaev wasn't close to being on weight, and as it turns out he missed the contracted weight by over 7 pounds, weighing in at 178.5lbs. Subsequent reporting from Ariel Helwani suggests that a medical issue may have been the underlying reason for the weight miss, but at this point its fairly unclear.

Nate Diaz weighed in with no issue at 171 lbs, and after starting a brawl the day before many of Chimaev's fellow UFC competitors came out of the woodwork to roast him, and/or submit themselves to take the fight in Chimaev's place.
