Leon Edwards Challenges Jorge Masvidal After UFC Fight Night Singapore 2018, Masvidal Accepts

Leon Edwards headlined his first UFC event at UFC Fight Night Singapore 2018, defeating Donald Cerrone by unanimous decision.

The victorious Edwards called out Jorge Masvidal after the fighter, even saying that he wants to fight the top ranked welterweight in Birmingham, England.

“I was going on the rankings, and everyone else was matched up,” Edwards said after the fight. “Masvidal, he’s been around the game a long time, so why not go out there and take him out? To bring the UFC back to Birmingham and headline the bill with my teammate Tom Breese and my brother Fabian would be amazing.”

Masvidal, who hasn’t competed since a loss to Stephen Thompson at UFC 217, wouldn’t mind fighting Edwards.

It would seem that while Masvidal would fight Edwards, it would be because Edwards is the highest ranking fighter to challenge him and for no other reason outside of that.

“(Expletive) people are always calling me out,” Masvidal told MMA Junkie. “I don’t give two (expletive) who calls me out. I just want a big fight. If Leon is the biggest fight that I can get my hands on, meaning the biggest name and biggest ranking, then that’s who it is.”

There is no word as to when the fight could happen and the UFC doesn’t have a show scheduled in Birmingham, England at this point.
