Lightweight Bout Pulled From UFC 216

MMA

The UFC 216 card has taken a big hit just a day before the event as a lightweight division bout between former Bellator MMA Lightweight Champion Will Brooks and Nik Lentz has been pulled from the card.

Combat Press was the first time report the cancelation.

Lentz is the cause for the bout being called off due to trouble with the weight cut, as the fighter didn’t even weigh in this afternoon. Brooks did make weight for the now canceled bout at a crisp 156 pounds, which is on target since the Nevada Athletic Commission (NAC) allows fighters to come in one pound over the weight limit.

There is no word yet on whether or not the UFC will reschedule the bout or if both fighters will get new opponents when they return to the Octagon.

This bout was set to be second from the top of the preliminary card on FX. We'll let you know what fight is slated to replace it.

UFC 216 takes place on Saturday, October 7 from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada with Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, with a post-show podcast to follow.
