Much was made of Logan Paul's first foray into WWE, teaming with The Miz to do battle against Rey and Dominik Mysterio at WrestleMania 38. However, no one could have anticipated just how impressive the Maverick would go on to become. He has developed into a marquee attraction in the world of professional wrestling, and he has plenty of in-ring talent to match his unrivaled charisma. When he signed a multi-year deal in 2022, it was huge news that crossed into the mainstream, with outlets such as ESPN and BBC all writing feature pieces. But what has the 28-year-old done in the time since his signing?
Maiden World Title Match is a Match of the Year Contender
As we head into the fall, websites are offering Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis betting ahead of their upcoming fight on October 14th. The current odds make the Maverick a -800 favorite for that particular matchup, but this time last year, Paul was most certainly the underdog. That's because he was heading into a blockbuster main event against reigning and defending Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia.
With the upstart in just his third singles match while the champion was in the midst of his record-breaking run, no one expected the challenger to get the victory. However, people also didn't expect their matchup to be as spectacular as it was. Despite the result being a foregone conclusion, the two genuinely had fans' hearts in their mouths with a number of mighty-close near-falls where it looked as though WWE would do the unthinkable and put the title on Paul.
The highlight of the night came when the challenger pummeled Reigns through the Spanish commentary table with a frog splash from the top rope to the outside of the ring. If that wasn't impressive enough, Paul recorded the video on his smartphone and uploaded it to social media, giving fans an inside look at what their favorite superstars' bodies go through with such death-defying stunts. Inevitably the bookies were right and Reigns got the win, but not after the pair put in a Match of the Year contender. If the boxing odds providers are also right just as the wrestling ones were this time last year, then Paul could be in for a pretty special end to 2023.
Feud with Seth Rollins
When Seth Rollins started discussing his dislike for Logan Paul on the Pat McAfee show earlier this year, it was inevitable that the two would face off. When the Maverick eliminated the current World Heavyweight Champion from the Royal Rumble match back in January, the pair were on a collision course. That course only intensified when Paul cost Rollins the United States Championship the following month inside the Elimination Chamber, interfering and delivering a devastating Curb Stomp to ensure that Austin Theory retained his title.
The match was set for WrestleMania 39 inside Los Angeles' SoFi Stadium, and the contest delivered in bucketloads. Once more an announce table was destroyed, however this time, Paul inadvertently clattered into his own buddy KSI who was disguised in a Prime bottle. That mishap was enough to distract the Cleveland native, allowing Rollins to hit the Stomp for the victory. But once more, Logan Paul had proven that he could hang with the best.
