Luke Rockhold Hopes Chris Weidman Doesn’t Want To Fight Him Again

Luke Rockhold won the UFC Middleweight Title with a brutal finish of then champion Chris Weidman in the co-main event of UFC 194.

Weidman has expressed interest in facing Rockhold again down the line, but Rockhold says he doesn’t want to fight him, for his sake only.

“For his sake, I hope not,” he said on The MMA Hour. “Weidman looked better than I’ve seen him in a long time. He definitely got something back together, and we’ll see. He did fight Kelvin Gastelum, he did fight a 170-pounder, so we’ll see.”

Rockhold has since lost the UFC Middleweight Title to Michael Bisping at UFC 199, while Weidman picked up his first win since the loss to Rockhold when he defeated Kelvin Gastelum at UFC On Fox 25.

The former middleweight champion in Weidman has started demanding another shot at the title, a move that Rockhold calls delusional.

“He’s a bit delusional at times. He just lost three in a row, so for him to think he’s the champion is pretty far from,” Rockhold said. “But he looked decent.”

UFC Fight Night Pittsburgh tales place on Saturday, September 16 from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with Luke Rockhold and David Branch headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on Fox Sports 1.
