A middleweight match-up between Maki Pitolo and Impa Kasanganay has been added to UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar.
UFC President Dana White announced the bout during the Dana White’s Contender Series Episode 28 post-fight media scrum.
Pitolo (13-6-0) has won just one of three under the UFC banner. That lone UFC win is over Charles Byrd at UFC 250. Pitolo competed this past weekend at UFC Fight Night: Lewis vs. Oleinik, suffering a first-round submission loss to Darren Stewart. Pitolo also competed on Dana White’s Contender Series Season 3, Episode 3, defeating Justin Michael Sumter by first-round TKO.
Kasanganay (7-0-0) is going to be making his UFC debut in this bout and does so with an undefeated streak that has lasted nearly two years. Kasanganay competed last night on Dana White’s Contender Series Episode 28, defeating Anthony Adams by unanimous decision. Kasanganay has seen his last three fights go the distance and it has been over a year since the fighter got a finish.
UFC Fight Night: Munhoz vs. Edgar takes place on Saturday, August 22 from the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada with Pedro Munhoz and Frankie Edgar headlining. Fightful is providing live coverage of the event, which airs live on ESPN.
